Bonneville High School counselors are committed to helping students learn. Through individual counseling, classroom presentations, and work with special groups, counselors help facilitate the development of appropriate social skills, encourage career exploration and emphasize academic excellence.
Counselors are anxious to meet with teachers and parents as needed in order to maximize the student's potential for success.
Counselors also provide information regarding high school course selection, post-secondary training options, financial aid and scholarships, and career choice.

Students whose last names begin with the letters A-G. Chanin Thompson was born and raised in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Idaho State University and taught English and history for several years. Mrs. Thompson also earned her Master’s in Counseling at Idaho State. She is a National Board Certified Counselor, and she works with students whose last names fall between the letters A-G. |
Students whose last names begin with the letters H-O Doug Knapp works with students whose last name begins with letters H-O. Mr. Knapp graduated from Bonneville High School and continued his education at Brigham Young University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Education and a Master's Degree in Counseling (Marriage and Family Therapy.) Mr. Knapp is the chairman of the department and is responsible for student registration. He is also the coordinator of ACT, AP and PSAT testing. Mr. Knapp is the contact person for student scholarships and financial aid information. He is also the BHS representative on the regional Southeastern Idaho College Fair committee.

Students whose last name begins with the letters P-Z. Troy Cook is from Bountiful, Utah but spent much of his youth in South America. He attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University where he majored in Latin American Studies and History. Most recently he comes to Bonneville from Las Vegas where he taught at the High School level. While there, he received his MA in counseling from the University of Phoenix. He works with students whose last name begins with P-Z. He is the contact person for IDLA (Idaho Digital Learning Academy), a representative on the Renaissance Committe, the district representative on the Regional diversity commitee and coordinates classroom visits. |
